Here are some resources you could use for your research.

- Many of you were using the description on Career Explorer, here.
- But I would recommend you watching this Abstract Episode on the life and work of Ilse Crawford, here on youtube. and here on Stream, so you would get more of a sense on how that works. Watch the beginning, no need to watch the whole thing, but the first 10 minutes are great.
3. Design and Pandemics
- This is an interesting video we started watching in class, about how pandemics have influenced design and architecture over the last couple of centuries.
4. Small space living
- Appartment therapy has this interesting series on Tiny Houses Tours.
- Here is a list of small space living, that could serve you as inspiration.
- National Geographic sends his Planet Mechanics to Liverpool and visits the architecture students designing container housing. (47:20)

- You can also investigate the amazing world of foldable furniture. Some examples here, here and here.
5. Colors and mood

6. Architecture and the environment
- Ted Talk: Creative houses from reclaimed stuff by Dan Phillips. In this funny and inspiring talk, he tours us through a dozen homes he’s built in Texas using recycled and reclaimed materials in wildly creative ways. Brilliant, low-tech design details will refresh your own drive to make more with less.
- TED Talk: The tradeoffs of building green In a short, funny, data-packed talk at TED U, Catherine Mohr walks through all the geeky decisions she made when building a green new house — looking at real energy numbers, not hype. What choices matter most? Not the ones you think.
- TED Talk: Architecture that repairs itself. Applied scientist Rachel Armstrong, uses advanced technology to design sustainable and eco-friendly solutions for the built and natural environment. Her research raises questions about the sustainable development of the built environment. She creates innovating resolutions while addressing environmental challenges on an academic level including carbon capture and recycling, smart ‘living’ materials and sustainable design.
7. Scale model
- There are some great videos out there: here and here is a nice series. Have a look, but please do not get discouraged, these are professionals. But it is nice to see what can be done!
- You could research what are good materials to make an scale model
- Or you could ask Mr Young Ming, Ms Cissy, Mr Hobbs what are the materials available at school to make the scale model.

8. Practical lessons
- To learn how to cut the boards we will also have a practical lesson in Research 1
- To learn how to use the laser cutter we will have a practical session in Research 2. If you are interested please draw a shape in Illustrator so he will tell you how to prepare it for laser cutting. If your Illustrator is no longer working, please download Affinity from Self-Help.
