Penny the Pirate

The first children’s story that’s also an eye test.

PROBLEM

One in six children have a vision problem. Half go undetected, because kids hate eye tests and scary optometrists.

SOLUTION

Eyecare provider OPSM created a bedtime story that’s actually an eye test, allowing parents to detect whether their child has a vision issue. The Penny the Pirate storybook app enables parents to test their child’s vision at home, as they read to them, by incorporating eye tests into the story. Within the app we then connected parents with OPSM specialists when needed.
