One more class for MAKING, C.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Please note the new schedule, your deadline is on Class 7 of Making, as you can see on MB.<\/p>\n 1. Reviewing the rubric for B4 (now called C0 since it is in the C file)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Example of what a B4 could look like:<\/p>\n Let’s check if we have the 3 things we asked for:<\/p>\n Now let’s look at the rubric for B4, you can find the file on Managebac, under Files. The 3 things are listed as part of the rubric, as you can see.<\/p>\n 2. The rubric for C:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n You can find the complete rubric for C on Managebac under Files.<\/p>\n Do you think all 4 strands are going to weight the same? What is the most important part about this Criterion?<\/p>\n 3. C1 the production plan:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Here is an example on how to fill it in. Short and clear steps. Time (minutes and date) and tools and materials. At the end of each class make sure if you are on track and take notes of any changes (to the plan or the materials) since you will need them to complete C4. Important: not having changes is not a good thing!!<\/span><\/em> Every time you design something, you will come up with multiple ideas on how to do things differently or better, those are the changes you need to record. 4. Making your piece (C2,C3)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n We will be evaluating on 2 different things when making your piece<\/p>\n C2. Technical skills:<\/em><\/strong><\/span> cutting skills, gluing skills, 3D printing skills, photographic skills, illustration skills etc. Under this we will take into consideration digital citizenship skills: if you are respecting copyright issues (as you know all you are using needs to be done by yourself, you cannot just “borrow” images or illustrations from the web). Same applies to buying things. We are not evaluating if you are a professional Taobao shopper, we are evaluating your creativity and making skills.<\/p>\n To get 7-8 you demonstrates excellent <\/strong>technical skills when making the 2D or 3D piece you ideated.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n C3. The finish product:<\/strong><\/em><\/span> here we are evaluating how you used the 7-8 hours given in class to make the piece you planned. How finished your product is, how you were able to adjust your planning to make sure you had a piece that: raised awareness about a topic of your choice, incorporates the complete poem and it is presented in the exhibit in an interesting way. If your piece is not finished, your grade will be certainly affected here.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n To get 7-8 you followed the plan to create <\/strong>the piece, which integrates the poem as intended <\/strong>and is presented appropriately <\/strong>for a school exhibit<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n 4. Writing about your changes (C4)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n In order to write C4 will need to list the changes<\/span> made to the plan or the design (3-4) and explain them<\/span>,\u00a0by indicating what was the purpose of them and\u00a0what happened to your overall project after you made that change.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Ex. When I was making the piece I remembered the design task said it had to be “placed in an exhibit” so I noticed my design had some sharp edges that could be dangerous for little kids, so I decided to sand them out to make sure the surface was smooth.<\/span>\u00a0The reason for this change is to make sure it was not dangerous for my audience<\/span>.\u00a0After I sanded the edges the design was not affected, but it was certainly safer. <\/span>(you can include pictures of the before-after to illustrate the change better)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n You can start writing C4 whenever you want. No need to wait until you finish your piece.<\/p>\n 5. Today we will continue with the making. Class 5\/6<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n We will ask you to upload a picture of your piece at the end of the class to see your progress.<\/strong> Please notice we only have 1 class left. If you are behind, please catch up as homework. Next class you will need some time to take final pictures of your piece as well as to finish writing C4 before you upload before the end of the class.<\/p>\n 1. Class 4\/6<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Only 3 classes left. Make sure that your designs start taking the shape and form you want.<\/p>\n Next class 5\/6 we will be revising the rubric together to make sure you have everuthing you need.<\/p>\n On class 6\/6we will finishing, taking pictures them and writing C4, so you won’t have the full class to make.<\/p>\n 2. Name on the board<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n We will continue the name on the board system. Write your name on the board. It will take 2 sessions to go through the whole class. Let\u2019s respect the ones that did not receive comments last time. Let\u2019s be aware of the length of our calls.<\/p>\n 1. The last 6 weeks<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n We will talk about how to make the last 6 weeks as effective as possible. Please come ready to share ideas and suggestions.<\/p>\n 2. Uploading B4+C1 (again)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Many people uploaded empty files last class, so please come ready to upload files that have some work on them, this time.<\/p>\n 1. Resubmissions<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n I won’t be taking resubmissions for B,C or D in this unit. So please make sure to complete your work in time. C0 will be the resubmission for B4, but that will be all.<\/p>\n 2. Check and print your plan (C1)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Make sure you included in your plan the use of 3D printers, laser cutters and the workshop, apart from all the materials you will need. Once you are done with it, make sure your plan is printed in front of you, so Mr Herv\u00e9 can check easily if you are on task and help you with any issues you may have.<\/p>\n 3. The start and the end of the class<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Since you are driving the process, please start by checking your plan: what you are supposed to do today? and make sure you use the 80 minutes to do it. At the end of the class we will check the plan again to make sure you are on track or take notes of any changes to the design or to the plan.<\/p>\n 4. Individual checkpoints<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n We will have individual calls as checkpoints. Notes will be taken on Managebac. Please be ready for these calls.<\/p>\n 1. Check your grades for Summative B<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n You will find them on Managebac. Overall B4 was incomplete. We need to improve it, that is why we are creating C0.<\/p>\n 2. Understanding what we are making: we are all making 3D pieces: C0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Since we are going to have a exhibit, those of you creating 2D pieces will need to think about 2 things:<\/p>\n Please make adjustments to your final drawing before starting C.
