This comes from National Geographic: “Mental maps are a mix of objective knowledge and subjective perceptions that are created from a person\u2019s internalized representation of aspects on Earth\u2019s surface. We use our experiences, knowledge, and ideas to organize spatial information to determine relative location, distance, and connections in our minds. These maps are important references for us to use while listening to the news, reading stories, planning trips, and sharing information with others.”<\/p>\n
