Class 28 (9N, 9K 9th June, 9L 10th June, 9M 12th June)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In this last class, we will write D3. What improvements can we make to our game based on the results we got from\u00a0 our 3 surveys?<\/p>\n

Task D3<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

You will need to come up with 3-4 improvements that could be made to the game, the instructions or even the survey.<\/p>\n

Start by looking at the summary of data you got in D2 to get ideas. Your ideas for improvements need to be supported by what your testers said.<\/p>\n

Let’s follow this formula to do your writing:<\/p>\n

The (first) improvement I could make is \u2026\u2026. Why-based on what data\u2026 How you would do this change (write-draw a sketch)\u2026 How will this improvement affect the overall game.<\/strong><\/p>\n

ex. The first improvement is adding color to my game, since 3 ouf of 3 said my game was not appealing enough. So I would add red, blue and yellow to my cards, following this sketch below. Yellow for my action cards, red for \u2026.. this way my cards will be identified by color so easier to recognize.<\/span><\/p>\n

The improvements can also be to the survey:<\/p>\n

ex. I realised my survey was poorly designed because I was not able to get enough data to be able to think of meaninful improvements. All of them ended up writing extra comments at the end, because none of my questions allowed them to provide data. So, I would make sure to add more open questions since most of mine are closed. For example in q4 instead of asking: did you learn anthing about polar bear habitat? I would change it for: what did you learn after playing the game? or do you have any suggestions to make the learning more clear?<\/p>\n

We will be evaluating that your improvements are clearly stated<\/strong> and you explain<\/strong> how this improvement affects the overall game.<\/p>\n

Class 27 (9N 4th June, 9K 5th June, 9M & 9L 8th June)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Once you get back the surveys it is the time to start writing your evaluations.<\/p>\n

Task D2.1<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scan your surveys and please translate anything written in Chinese into English.<\/p>\n

Task D2.2<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this table you are just making sense of the responses you got from the interview, relating it to the table.<\/p>\n

Try to be short and to the point.<\/p>\n

Task D2.3<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here is where you make sense of the table and you write in paragraph form, the findings of your surveys<\/p>\n

Try to follow this formula:<\/p>\n

Met-not meet the specification + what specification + proof or quote + why\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

I met my aesthetics specifications because according to 100% of my surveys they were colorful and attractive.<\/span>
\nI did not meet my aesthetics specifications to make it attractive as 80% said it was not interesting looking, because I ran out of time. So if I had more time, this would be my priority.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also if they wrote something at the end of the survey, even if it was not the answer to any question, please include it.<\/p>\n

Please remember we will have to write impromemens in D3, so this is not the place to mention these.<\/p>\n

Class 24 (9N, 9K 22nd May, 9L 25th May, 9M 21st May)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Welcome back. Today we are going to start working on the last part of the unit: we will evaluate your games. Originally, we were going to be testing it with Grade 4 and 5 students (our target audience) but because of current circumstances and since they won’t be back to school until June 8th, we will do it with other Grade 9 classes.<\/p>\n

9N will be tested by 9K and 9K by 9N<\/p>\n

9L will be tested by 9M and 9M by 9L<\/p>\n

Task 1<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

So the first thing we will do today is to pack our games so they are ready to be tested next class. Please make sure to include all the little pieces inside envelopes or plastic bags so nothing gets lost. Include instructions or information on how many people will play the game. Also label the bag with your name and section. Once you are ready place all of them on a table.<\/p>\n

If for whatever reason your game is not ready at the end of the class, let me know.<\/span><\/p>\n

Task 2<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I will introduce you to the tasksheet for Criteria D and you will start working on creating questions for your survey. Please remember you should be testing your specifications and initial intentions to see if you did a good job. Play especial attention to what you were planning on teaching and if the are getting\u00a0 it at the end of the game.<\/p>\n

Today we will work on D1. Coming up with 16 questions for your survey. Please find the tasksheet in Managebac under Files.<\/p>\n

Task 3<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Once you have your 16 questions, colaborate with a peer to give some feedback:<\/p>\n

  • Are the questions clearly understood?<\/li>\n
  • Are there mostly open questions?<\/li>\n
  • will they collect enough data to write about improvements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Task 4<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Please print 3 copies<\/span> of your survey and include them with your game, ready to be tested next class.<\/p>\n
